From Donegal in the north down to Cork in the south the jagged coastline is full of spectacular cliffs, pristine beaches and topped with a sprinkling of islands and is definitely the coast to go when visiting Ireland. Even if the water is always cold its worth getting in just to say you did! The west coast of Ireland is full of small towns and villages and has no cities as such as Galway and Limerick although technically on the west coast are still a long way from the brunt of the Atlantic Ocean. Word of mouth spread rapidly and we are getting good visitor numbers here every day. There is nothing like this anywhere else. Throughout September, Larry McEvoy has been playing to a packed house from midday to 2pm and the feedback, according to Mr Dunne, has been unanimously positive.
This year has been good.

It may be physical attraction or a roof over their heads. It’s a fitting nod to the town’s melodious matchmaking heritage. His daughter Elsha, who’s developing a website to bring the matchmaking process into the 21st century, is more pragmatic.
The tome has magical qualities, according to Daly.

Friday, October 26 Join us for an evening of drink specials, games, psychic readings, laughter, fun and plenty of elidgible lads and lassies! Lisdoonvarna was voted by Pittsbugh Magazine to be the 1 matchmaking event in the city. Lisdoonvarna is a spa town in County Clare, Ireland, famous for its annual matchmaking festival. The Matchmakers of old were the “dealers” who knew the farmers who had eligible sons and daughters all around the countryside of Ireland.
They invited the “eligible” lads and lassies to attend the festival and collected a generous dowry if they were successful in making a match. Here we celebrate the fact that because of the comfortable and friendly atmosphere that the Pub offers, people can come in, have a pint, relax and be themselves.
The Outing Festival & hotel is situated on acres of wooded countryside, offering endless walks and activities to suit every guest. Relax in The Inn at Dromoland on the grounds of Dromoland Castle Estate in comfort and experience everything the weekend has to offer!
Review of The Hydro Hotel Reviewed 27 September via mobile This hotel is the centre of the activities at the festival, and therefore the best place to stay.. Reception staff on arrival were welcoming and happy. The owner welcomed us, and was very friendly, welcoming and fun. The room was a good size, and had a big bathroom. Every place was very clean. Lots of security staff around to ensure only guests were allowed upstairs, which was great.
Breakfast was served, including cereal and juice. Big well furnished dining room. Free music in the bar all day and later in the night there is a cover charge for non guests to the club, which is a large function room. This festival is a lot of fun for singles and non singles. Very relaxed atmosphere throughout the town.

The Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival has it all: Parents would bring their children together at social gatherings, sporting events and musical evenings — and all being well, courtships would blossom. The opening of the West Clare Railway in meant Lisdoonvarna increased in popularity as a tourist destination and the matchmaking tradition grew. With the harvest safely in and September being the peak holiday month, many bachelor farmers began to flock to Lisdoonvarna for a spa town vacation — and in search of a wife.
Meet the Man Himself While the festival has moved into the 21st century, Willie still believes in the old fashioned method of round the table talks with couples and getting the passion flowing by getting them dancing together.
I would like to go to the festival. No one from the site returns an email, nor do any of the hotels. I think all the hotels are sold out but I see some bnbs that are close that are not.

The champion surfer who found God and opened a church in Co Clare
On the west coast of Ireland, just a few miles from Lisdoonvarna in County Clare, I live on a small elevated farm with horses, ponies and donkeys within view of the Cliffs of Moher , the wild Atlantic Ocean of our own Liscannor Bay and the beautiful, spellbinding, magical Burren. I have been matchmaking for over 50 years and am proud to say I have matched over couples in my lifetime.
Matchmaking is in my blood and I am fortunate to have inherited the skills of my father and grandfather. Like them, I know instinctively what makes a good match. The traditional tools I use are intuition, subtlety, and an understanding of human nature. I will then place it into my year old lucky love matchmaking book.
This is the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival – the biggest event of its kind in Europe and part of the rich tradition of rural Ireland. A chance to gather and celebrate life, love, good music and great times!
Take an unforgettable journey to the Wild Atlantic and you will be rewarded with dramatic and breathtaking views that are nothing short of amazing. First of all this tour takes you to one of the best natural attractions in Ireland. Dare to peak over the metre high cliffs, furthermore enjoy breath-taking views along the cliffs from every angle. Feel the sea breeze on your face and listen to the waves crash along the base of the cliffs.
Consequently you will lose yourself as you look out across the open horizon at the infinite ocean. After exploring the cliffs, enjoy a delicious meal in the charming village of Doolin. Our journey then takes us to the limestone wonder called The Burren. Colourfull flowers have burst through the cracks of the limestone pavement, making it a truly unique location and a thriving ecosystem. Because of the mild microclimate some varieties of flowers can only be found in this region.
Finally we will visit the vibrant city of Galway. Discover brightly colored pubs playing live music, and cafes with front row seats to street performers.

The secrets of a cruise ship magician The ship had all the glamour of a bygone era, including a suite designed by the Italian actress Sophia Loren, who was one of my idols growing up. With music and dancing every night, romance was definitely in the air. That night, an orderly queue formed comprising mostly elderly American ladies waiting to meet me at my table.
First up was a lovely woman called Catherine from Limerick. She was 37 and told me she had booked the cruise when she heard I was going to be on it. Earlier that day, I had met Michael, a tall good-looking man from California, in the lift. He was 47 and, like many Americans, a great talker.
